PM Modi Inaugurates Khelo India Youth Games in Bihar via Video Address

In a wonderful display of devotion to the cause of sporting development and empowering the youth, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Khelo India Youth Games in Bihar virtually and it was a massive step ahead for the country and its sports community. The tournament, hosted in Patna, elicited interest from worldwide as near and far as across the nation due to sportspersons, coaches, and observers coming there to witness India’s best-of-the-best youth sporting action command all the limelight.

“The sporting talent and energies of youth are a powerful driving force for our country,” stated Prime Minister. “Khelo India Youth Games is not a competition; it is a movement to take the sport to every household and make every child dream big.”

He also welcomed the state of Bihar as the hosting state of games and valued the government for their intent on creating a lively sports infrastructure. PM Modi further stated that Bihar, being so rich in culture and history, has now become a new sports destination and youth center.

Bihar: The Proud Host

The first-ever time for Bihar to host the national championship gives this year’s version of the Khelo India Youth Games particular importance for Bihar. The state has taken the opportunity to promote its ability and determination in the development of youth talent through newly constructed sports facilities and existing facilities upgraded in Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, and Bhagalpur.

The state government worked day and night in the past few months to offer the facilities of international standards. Over 6,000 sportspersons from all over the country are participating in over 25 sporting events such as athletics, wrestling, hockey, boxing, swimming, and many more.

Celebrating India’s Sporting Spirit

The inauguration ceremony witnessed rich cultural displays of bright Bihar heritage and culture, and display of competing teams and players. Harmony and a positive atmosphere filled the air as youthful sportsmen waved their state flags confidently and promised to deliver their best at the upcoming competitions.

Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, who was among the guests at the event, reiterated the government’s focus on building a robust sports ecosystem. “With each edition, Khelo India Youth Games are getting bigger, better, and inclusive. We are building tomorrow’s champions by building talent at the grass-roots level,” he further stated.

Empowering Youth Through Sports

From the day it launched in 2018, Khelo India scheme has been amongst India’s highest talent search and development schemes for sport. As per the scheme, these sportswomen and talent-hunting athletes have been provided with scholarships, training, nutrition, and exposure opportunities for top-grade training centers.

The scope of the program speaks for itself, with numerous sportsmen having made a start from the Khelo India Youth Games to represent India at the Asian Games, the Commonwealth Games, and even the Olympics. With Bihar included as a part of hosts now, the program is spreading geographically and taking its roots socially.

Digital Innovation and Accessibility

PM Modi also explained how technology has made sports within reach and at children’s doorsteps. He urged the students, parents, and schools to adopt sports as a profession and extra-curricular activity.

“India’s digital revolution is bringing learning, training, and talent exhibition within the reach of youth. We should use these weapons so that no talent goes waste,” he added.

The tournament was also broadcast live on various stations nationwide, enabling sporting enthusiasts to watch and cheer their most recognized players in a climate of national pride and attention.

The Bihar Khelo India Youth Games will continue for the next fortnight and culminate with a grand closing ceremony where awarding of participating sports persons and states will take place.
